Wem High Street

The upper end of the High street (north side) was where the town gas works was built- in the days before natural gas arrived. It also had an inn called 'The Grove', though this seems to have closed before 1830. This premises- 94, was a boarding house in the 18th Century but has now been converted into a block of flats (see picture above). Beyond them is the Fire Station.
On the other side of Noble Street is the Adam House (No 100), a fine 4 storey mansion. Beyond that is the modern Stanier Hall.
