Silvaspin - Agroforestry in Shropshire: The Hollies is an organic farm of 40 acres rearing about 60 head of beef cattle. The nature of the project here is designed to bring together elements of the open-field system of agriculture common in Britain until the Enclosure Acts and the agro forestry of mainland Europe and Asia, and create an agriculture more relevant to modern times incorporating arboreal concepts such a surface shading, methane absorption and humidity (mist) harvesting.

Wem Carnival, a not-to-be missed event held at the beginning of every September.

Wem Civic Society normally meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Senior Club, Chapel Street, Wem.

Wem Combine Harvesters consists of representatives from Wem Civic Society, Wem & District Garden Club and Wem Transition Town Initiative. The group was formed in 2010 to organise a Harvest Market and now aims to run both a Spring and Harvest Market in Wem Town Hall each year.
The aims of the markets are to:
1. Attract more shoppers into Wem.
2. Provide an outlet for small local food, drink and craft producers.
3. Encourage those who came into the market to look at the rest of Wem’s shops.
4. Raise funds for running of the three groups and their projects.

Wem Town Hall has developed a broad programme of activities including regular cinema screenings, dance classes, visual arts and crafts, music events and theatre, film production, etc. There are a variety of rooms available for hire, all of which provide flexible spaces and are suitable for a range of events, conference, meetings and workshops.
