Born Wem, on 25 April 1887, the son of William (born c.1861 in Clun, Shropshire) & Harriet (born c.1866 in Haughton, Staffs.) Edwards
1891 Census: Listed as living at 5, Wemsbrook Rd., Wem with parents and siblings, William (born c. 1895)and Alice (born 1900).
1901 Census: Listed as living at 24, Chapel St., Wem with parents and siblings, William and Alice plus George, Frank, Edward and Harold. Occupation given as blacksmith's apprentice. Father's occupation given as under brewer.
1911 Census: Listed as living at 11, Noble St., Wem with parents and siblings, Alice, Frank, Emily, Charley, Percy and Walter. Occupation given as brewer's worker.

Army Service:
Enlisted on 4th March 1902 in the Rifle Brigade (Gosport) when he was 15 years and 4 months old, but gave his age as 17 years and 10 months. His Short Service Attestation describes him as 5'6" with light brown haire and grey eyes. Religion is given as CofE. He signed on for 7 years with a further 5 years in the Reserve, but chose to serve 8 years, and was sent to South Africa, Egypt and India. The record shows an inclination to insubordination.
He transfered to the Reserve (Section D) in 1910 and went home.
Went back into the army in 1914; BEF, killed on 9th May 1915.
