This was a small shop that for many years housed an antique dealer. A butchers shop occupied it in the early 1990s, owned at some stage by Ernie Archer. Since then it has briefly housed a 'pound shop', before the new grocers at 44 acquired it as an extension, and knocked through the wall. It was empty for a awhile after Fresh value closed, but re-opened as a single unit in May 2015, when Mark Lowe, a butcher whose previous shop was at Worfield near Bridgnorth, reopened the shop as Wem's 3rd butchery. After about 2 months, he closed and moved to Ellesmere. In February, the Rural Chariry who had recently taken over the furniture shop opposite, moved in and set up a bric a brac shop. |
